VMware is a virtualization software whereby we can install OS inside OS. In this article, We will show how to install Solaris 10 x86 inside VMware Workstation 6.5. Currently, we have already installed VMware Workstation 6.5. So we will not explain how to install VMware Workstation 6.5.
DOWNLOAD SOLARIS 10 x86
The first step, I will download the software from Sun Microsystems website: http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/get.jsp#download
I choose Free Solaris 10 10/08 download then in the listbox I choose Free DVD download FULL image. I click Download button, then it will ask me to provide some informations.
In the next page, I fill the form like these followings:
1. Platform: Solaris 10 OS (x86)
2. Language: Multi-language
3. I check the checkbox I agree to the Solaris 10 10/08 Operating System License Agreement
4. I put my username and password.
(If I haven't registered yet, I need to click Register Now)Then I click Log In and Continue.
Again, Sun Microsystems will ask me to fill Solaris Pre-Download Survey. I just fill in whatever I need in that survey. After that, I click Submit and Continue button.
I click link sol-10-u6-ga1-x86-dvd.iso
The file size is around 2.2 GB. After that it will download the ISO file automatically.
The process will take less than 1 hour because I have broadband internet connection. I just need to wait, sit down, and enjoy my coffee until the download is finished. :D
